• Black Walnut is prized for its deep chocolate heartwood and subtle purplish undertones.
• Douglas Fir, a local treasure, stands out with its distinctive ring patterns and warm amber glow.
• Figured Maple captivates with dramatic grain variations that shimmer with a three-dimensional quality.

There is nothing else in the wooden bowl market quite like our Soundwood Bowls. When a log shows figuring that makes it less desirable for guitars, we give it new life in our bowl mill—completing the circle of sustainability with craftsmanship and purpose. 

• Big Leaf Maple is our primary source for Soundwood Bowls. Native to the Pacific Northwest, it has a consistent texture that leads to an exceptionally smooth finish. The creamy tone deepens over time into a honey hue, revealing a depth that feels both organic and refined.
• American Black Walnut is a highly desirable source for both our guitar tonewoods and our bowls, so we look for logs that we can utilize for both. Even from one log, every walnut bowl is unique, capturing the expressive character of this iconic hardwood.

As part of our full circle ethos, we salvage fallen, aging or imperfect trees that deserve a new life. Each Salvage Bowl carries the story of the tree it came from—wood once overlooked, now reimagined through craft and care.

• Woodturners love Alder wood because it cuts cleanly, sands easily, and produces an elegant surface. Sturdy enough for daily use, Alder is lightweight, with a soft even grain that warms over time.
• Though often passed over for other uses, we turn Big Leaf Maple rich in heartwood, into something remarkable when shaped by the lathe.
