A STAR is MADE
Our Singular Bowls are made from the most remarkable wood we find.
Right now that means figured or spalted big leaf maple, with Hawaiian koa and walnut coming soon. These bowls may have unusual markings, symmetry or distinctive grain, or come from a tree with a story of its own. Or they might just be a one-of-a-kind piece of wood we’ll never see in the shop again.
GUITARS to BOWLS
Our Soundwood Bowls come from logs we sourced for milling guitar wood.
When we cut and process instrument wood to find the perfect orientation and grain, we often end up with pieces that aren’t quite right for a guitar maker. They can, however, make the perfect bowl. The wood we re-purpose is often maple, with a smooth or lightly figured grain.
VALUE added WOOD
Our Salvage Bowls are sustainably crafted from wood that might otherwise go to waste.
We reclaim wood from a variety of sources: aging trees on local farms, windfall from storms, or even offcuts from our own mill—remnants from veneer production and other processes. What might have been firewood or landfill takes on a new life as a Seventh String Bowl, with a story all its own. And because we never know where we’re going to find the next source for our Salvage Bowls, that story is never the same.
